Dental Implants

Dr. Bodak, I have several missing teeth, and I have thought about dental implants.”

Dental Implants to Replace Missing Teeth

Missing Molar Tooth

Missing Molar Tooth

Do you have a missing tooth?  More than one?  Missing teeth cause movement of your remaining teeth and bone loss, giving your face a prematurely aged appearance.   Many patients develop jaw pain, headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfuntion and misalignment of their teeth and jaw.  With a dental implant, I can replace a missing tooth, for the same fee as a porcelain bridge.  The implant is placed under local anesthesia. For the patient, an implant is easier than an extraction.  And with an implant, I do not have to cap or crown the neighboring teeth to attach a bridge.  My implant tooth looks, feels and functions like your natural tooth, except that it will never decay!

After many years of searching and study, I chose the Bicon Dental Implant system for my patients.  Bicon (www.Bicon.com), an American company based in Boston, has been manufacturing a uniquely engineered, bacterially-sealed, dental implant system since 1985. With other implants, bacterial leakage around the implant can cause infection, inflammation, loss of bone and failure of the implant. Bicon is the only implant with a proven bacterial seal. I have attained certification in both Basic and Advanced Implant Dentistry at the Bicon Institute.

Bicon’s unique 360 degree universal abutment positioning provides for an Integrated Abutment Crown that does not involve screws or cement.  My patients do not experience the limitations and frustrations associated with use of other implants that may become loose and fail.

BiconlogooptimizedBicon-schematic-implantThe Bicon coated-titanium implant, which comes in a wide range of sizes, is used to replace the natural tooth root.  There is very little loss of bone during Bicon implant placement; the implant actually causes new bone formation in the jaw.   For properly selected patients, Bicon implants have a 98% success rate and there have been no reports of 3 mm Bicon post fracture. The versatile range of Bicon sizes may permit implant placement in many who have been advised elsewhere that an implant was impossible.  The Bicon sloping shoulder design and availability of short or narrow implant sizes may prevent the need for bone replacement, sinus lift and other costly procedures that may be required with other implant systems.

After I place the Bicon implant below the gum, it becomes permanently incorporated into the jawbone over several months.   I then attach an aesthetic, custom-made restoration crown, without screws, cement or visible metal at the gumline.  The implant tooth looks, feels and functions like your natural tooth.

Anne J. “My dental implants are beautiful! I felt no pain!”

On December 9, 2008, Dr. L.Z.Bodak-Gyovai performed 3 implants (Bicon) procedure on my mouth. I felt no pain or unusual discomfort. There was no discoloration of the facial tissue. The implants fit perfectly and are beautiful.

In contrast to this, previously (July 1999) I had 3 implants by another procedure and dentist. During the surgery, I experienced severe pain and on the following day, my face was badly bruised to the extent that it shocked the dentist.

“Dr. Bodak, my dentures slip. Denture adjustments have not solved the problem.”

Many patients with upper, lower or full dentures complain that their dentures are loose, and slip while they eat, drink or speak.  Denture-wearers are unable to chew and bite their food normally. Compared to natural teeth, dentures slip with a minimal bite pressure of only 20% of normal.  As a result, denture-wearers suffer embarrassment and avoid eating some of their favorite foods, like a juicy apple, a thick steak or corn-on-the-cob.

Bicon Dental Implants offer a solution.  Several implants may be placed in the upper and/or lower jaw to rigidly hold an upper or lower denture in place.  Implant-retained dentures are a permanent solution to loose dentures.  No longer is there a need for denture adhesives, frequent denture adjustments, or a restricted diet.  Secure dentures bring a confident smile, and you will able to enjoy your food again!
